After Nationwide Search, Columbia REA Board Announces New CEO


Walla Walla, Wash., May 29, 2018 – Columbia Rural Electric Association (Columbia REA) announced today that after conducting a nation-wide search, Scott Peters of Walla Walla, Wash., has been hired as the new CEO of Columbia REA according to Katie Wooldridge, chairman of the co-op’s board of directors.  Wooldridge stated, “After looking at all of the candidates for the CEO position, the board feels that Scott is best suited to lead our cooperative into the future. “We have total confidence in his ability to lead the employees and continue the strong tradition of focusing on the needs of our members.”


Peters has more than 25 years of public power experience, serving the last 10 years at Columbia REA, first as the manager of member services and most recently as chief operating officer.  Scott will become the eighth CEO in the 80 year history of the cooperative.  “I am honored to be selected by our board to lead the cooperative I have been a part of for the past decade. I love our community and the great team I get to work with on a daily basis and am looking forward to the new challenges as the CEO of Columbia REA. Working with the board of directors, we will continue to focus on our members and the communities we serve.”


Les Teel, current CEO, will retire on July 9, and intends to maintain his primary residence in the Walla Walla Valley.  



 Columbia REA is a member-owned rural electric cooperative serving approximately 3800 members and 5560 meters in Columbia, Walla Walla and Umatilla counties.
